Saudi Sleeping Prince turns 36 after nearly 20 years in coma
Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, often referred to as Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince,” recently turned 36 on April 18, 2025 (yes, he’s still alive), marking nearly two decades in a coma following a car accident in 2005.

The incident occurred while he was studying at a military college in London, resulting in a severe brain hemorrhage that left him unconscious.
Despite medical recommendations to discontinue life support, his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, has steadfastly maintained his son's care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, expressing unwavering hope for recovery.
He has been quoted saying:
“If God had wanted him to die in the accident, he would have been in his grave now.”
Over the years, there have been occasional reports of minimal movements, such as finger twitches, but no significant change in his condition.
While his mother, Princess Reema, has described her son's soul as “still present,” she hopes for his full recovery.
On his recent birthday, images shared on social media depicted the prince surrounded by family, reflecting the enduring support he receives.
Prince Al-Waleed is the great-grandson of King Abdulaziz, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and the nephew of billionaire investor Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal.
His prolonged coma continues to draw public attention, symbolizing a family's enduring hope amidst medical uncertainty.
