Bill Gates to Leave Less Than 1% of Fortune to His Children
In a recent interview on the "Figuring Out With Raj Shamani" podcast on YouTube, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates revealed that his three children, Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe, will inherit less than 1% of his estimated $102.2 billion fortune.

Bill Gates explained that while his children have received an excellent upbringing and education, he believes that passing down the majority of his wealth would not be beneficial for them.
He stated:
"I want to give them a chance to have their own earnings and success."
This approach aligns with Gates' longstanding commitment to philanthropy. Alongside his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, he has dedicated much of his wealth to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focusing on global health, education, and poverty alleviation initiatives.
Gates' stance reflects a broader trend among tech entrepreneurs who prioritize charitable giving over establishing family dynasties. According to the New York Post, he emphasized the importance of allowing his children to build their own careers and find success independently, rather than relying on inherited wealth.
He proudly claimed himself as a good parent by saying:
“My kids got a great upbringing and education, but less than 1% of the total wealth because I decided it wouldn't be a favor to them.”
While the exact amount each child will inherit remains undisclosed, less than 1% of Gates' fortune still represents a substantial sum, like at least $1 billion for three people is actually enough.
Nonetheless, Gates maintains that this decision is intended to encourage his children to pursue their own paths and achievements.
