Student Transportation of America (STA) has announced plans to lay off 212 employees at its Columbia, Missouri location in Boone County, effective May 29, 2025.

In March 2024, STA filed a WARN notice in Nebraska, resulting in 243 layoffs. Additionally, in April 2024, the company announced the layoff of 225 employees in Jacksonville, Florida, including 160 bus drivers and 50 bus monitors.

The upcoming layoffs in Columbia will impact a significant portion of STA's workforce in the region. The company has not publicly disclosed the specific reasons for these layoffs.​
