Apple has introduced the iPhone 16e, expanding its iPhone 16 lineup with a more affordable option and saying goodbye to the iPhone SE lineup.

Priced at $599 for the 128GB model, the iPhone 16e offers a blend of modern design and advanced technology.

Display and Design:

The iPhone 16e features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, providing vibrant colors and deep blacks. It adopts an edge-to-edge design with a notch, similar to the iPhone 14, and is available in black and white finishes.  

Performance:

Powered by the A18 chip with a 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU, the device ensures smooth performance and supports Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of AI features.  

Camera System:

Equipped with a 48-megapixel Fusion camera, the iPhone 16e offers high-resolution photos and 4K video recording at 60 fps. The integrated 2x Telephoto lens allows for optical-quality zoom.  

Battery Life:

Apple claims the iPhone 16e provides up to 26 hours of video playback, surpassing the battery performance of the iPhone 11 and all generations of the iPhone SE.

Apple Intelligence Support:

Built to leverage Apple Intelligence, the iPhone 16e offers advanced AI capabilities, including Writing Tools for text enhancement, Image Playground for creative visuals, and Genmoji for personalized emojis.

Visual Intelligence via Action Button:

The Action Button also unlocks Visual Intelligence features, enabling users to summarize text, translate languages, detect contact information, and identify objects or plants directly through the camera interface.  

Additional Features:

The device includes a customizable Action Button, replacing the traditional mute switch, and transitions from the Lightning port to USB-C for charging. However, it lacks MagSafe compatibility.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e begin on February 21, with general availability starting February 28. Storage options include 128GB, 256GB ($699), and 512GB ($899).
