Paris Jackson Celebrates 5 Years of Sobriety

Paris Jackson, the 26-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson, is celebrating a huge milestone:

  • 5 years clean and sober.

In an emotional Instagram Reel, she shared her journey with her followers and her followers are appreciating her journey.

She went on to say:

“Hi, I’m pk and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,” she wrote in the caption. “Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface.”

The Reel featured a mix of old and new clips, showing her past struggles with drinking and smoking, followed by moments of joy in her sober life: dancing, making music, spending time with her dogs, and sharing love with her fiancé, Justin “Blue” Long.

She kept the moment in the Reel sharing more about what life is bringing to her now as she said:

“It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today. I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all (its) glory. I get to grieve. I get to laugh. I get to dance. I get to trust. I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm,” she wrote.

Paris ended the video with gratitude:

“To those that helped me on this journey, if only for just the beginning, middle, or the whole time so far, you know who you are and I owe you my life. Thank you. 5 years. THANK GOD.”

Paris has previously been open about her struggles with mental health, including self-harm, body image issues, and depression too.

She once shared that after her father’s death in 2009, she “fell into self-harm” and used it as a way to transfer emotional pain into physical pain.

Reflecting on her journey in 2021, she said:

“Several years later, I’m really grateful that it didn’t (work). Things have gotten better.”

Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery and healing are possible and possible even the whole world is watching you.

So don’t be afraid to move your life whenever possible.
