European Cybertech Filigran Secures $35M Series B
Filigran, the European cybertech firm on a mission to make cyber threat intelligence accessible worldwide, has just closed a $35 million Series B funding round. Leading this investment is Insight Partners, a prominent global software investor, alongside continued support from Accel and Moonfire.
This funding, coming on the heels of Filigran’s recent $16 million Series A, highlights the company's rapid momentum and ambitious plans to scale globally and refine its product offerings.
As Filigran gears up to expand in the United States and Pacific regions, the new funding is poised to accelerate product innovation focused on AI and data engineering for threat detection.
Founded in 2022 by Samuel Hassine and Julien Richard, Filigran is already making waves in cybersecurity through its open-source platforms, OpenCTI and OpenBAS.
Together, these platforms form Filigran’s eXtended Threat Management (XTM) suite, which provides organizations a proactive defense against cyber threats by integrating threat intelligence and real-time security validation into a unified solution.
The suite is designed to help companies not only understand and respond to cyber threats but also anticipate them, shaving critical time off response efforts and enabling long-term strategic defense planning.
As Hassine, Filigran’s CEO, remarked, “Securing this Series B investment is a testament to the tremendous progress Filigran has made in a short time. Our mission is to make threat intelligence accessible and actionable for all organizations. With this new funding, we’re poised to continue that mission on an even larger scale, driving innovation and expanding our reach across key global markets.”
For a company that’s less than two years old, Filigran’s client list is notable, including industry giants like Airbus, Hermès, and Rivian, as well as government agencies like the FBI, New York City Cyber Command, and European Commission. This funding will not only enhance Filigran’s reach but also allow for new developments in its XTM suite, which is central to the company’s cyber defense offerings.
Insight Partners’ Crissy Costa Behrens explained, “In a short amount of time, Filigran has managed to change the way security teams think about threat intelligence. Their open-source XTM suite, powered by OpenCTI and OpenBAS, enables users to proactively defend themselves against potential attackers. This investment will fuel their global expansion and product innovation, and we are thrilled to be a part of their journey.”
Filigran’s platforms are built to empower cybersecurity teams by providing a comprehensive, end-to-end threat intelligence solution, covering everything from threat assessment to active defense. OpenCTI structures threat data into actionable intelligence, while OpenBAS leverages real-time threat simulations to identify vulnerabilities, enabling companies to adopt a threat-informed approach to cyber risk.
With over 4,300 cybersecurity professionals and active contributors within its community, Filigran’s open-source model has created a new standard in cyber threat management, emphasizing accessibility and collaboration across the industry.
The newly secured Series B funds will also push forward additional enhancements to the XTM suite, adding advanced risk assessment and deception capabilities, which further strengthens Filigran’s ability to equip organizations with cutting-edge threat detection and response tools.
Both Hassine and Richard bring a wealth of experience to their roles: Hassine, with over 15 years in cyber threat intelligence and crisis management, previously held senior roles at Tanium and ANSSI, while Richard, Filigran’s CTO, has over two decades of experience in product and engineering, including positions at YOOI and Axway.
Founded with a vision to revolutionize threat management, Filigran’s success so far underscores the pressing demand for agile, proactive cybersecurity solutions. With this latest funding, the company is set to chart new territory, expanding its market presence and further refining the tools that help organizations anticipate and neutralize emerging threats.
