Is Elon Musk Really Going to Bring Back Vine?
The unsung hero of the shot-videos platforms Vine got shut down by Twitter (now X) way back in 2017 just 5 years after its launch in 2012 to reduce costs as the parent company was not able to monetize Vine app to make it sustainable.
However, the new owner of Twitter who made it X “Elon Musk” is now hinting at bringing Vine back.
Elon Musk created a poll on X with his official account asking his followers one simple question:
Brink back Vine?
And 70% of the voters on his poll voted as a Yes, making him finally bring Vine app back for all the good reasons.
However, if Elon Musk really brings it back, it will be a direct competition to TikTok and not just TikTok, but also to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and even many other platforms that are now focusing on bringing short video content to the homepage and forcing users to use their platforms just like TikTok.
Yes, TikTok’s popularity is making waves in the social media platforms world, and eventually, every other network is making changes to look the same as TikTok.
While Vine is a predecessor to TikTok and could easily grab attention (only if Elon brings it back).
Is Elon Musk really bringing Vine back?
Well, the billionaire is directly asking his own followers and followers have shown great interest in bringing Vine back, the 70% votes as a Yes are not too bad for Elon to finally make Vine alive.
However, asking the same question when he bought Twitter to make it X in 2022, Elon received the same response but never made an announcement about Vine’s coming back.
To your notes, Vine was not created by Twitter, it was acquired by Twitter for $30 million and then after running the platform for 5 years as a separate app, Twitter officially discontinued it and even archived all the content on it.
