New Scams Catching People by Surprise

The scammer will reach out to the user through social media or text message, claiming to be a Cash App representative. The scammer will ask the user to send them a small amount of money, promising to return a much more significant amount.

Once the user sends the money, the scammer blocks them, making it impossible for them to be contacted. The user never receives the promised amount, and their initial investment is gone. This scam preys on some people's desire for quick cash, making it an effective and devastating scam.

Gift Cards

The gift card scam is another new scam that has been on the rise. Gift cards are a popular option during the holiday season, and scammers use this opportunity to steal money from unsuspecting people. 

The scammer will reach out to the person through email or social media, posing as a friend or family member. They will ask them to buy gift cards and send them the codes, claiming they urgently need money. Once the person sends the gift card codes, the scammer will use them to make purchases, leaving them with an empty gift card.

They will tell them that their computer has a virus or malware and ask them to provide remote access to their computer. Once the scammer gains access to the computer, they will steal personal information or install malicious software.

These messages often ask the recipient to click on a link or provide personal information, such as login credentials or credit card details. The link will redirect the recipient to a fake website that looks like the real one but is designed to steal their information.

Romance Scams
