China's Huawei Becomes World's Largest Smartphone Vendor
Huawei has become the world's largest smartphone vendor after surpassing Samsung Electronics in the second quarter of 2020.
According to research firm Canalys, Huawei sold 55.8 million devices, compared to Samsung's 53.7 million.
The company's overseas shipments fell 27 percent in the second quarter last year, but the company has improved its dominance in the Chinese market, which has been quick to recover from the coronavirus. And here Huawei now sells more than 70% of its handsets.
"Our business has demonstrated exceptional resilience in these difficult times," said a Huawei spokesman.
"Amidst a period of unprecedented global economic slowdown and challenges, we’ve continued to grow and further our leadership position by providing innovative products and experience to consumers," he said.
Huawei is becoming large even after facing a lot of pressure from Google (as they banned Huawei to use their services in Android phones), the company still managed to rank at 1st spot.
Their biggest sales are happening inside the Chinese markets.
