As per the infographic right below, handwashing can prevent 1 in 5 respiratory infections, and there are more than 1500 bacteria on just 1cm of your hand. Not just this, if everybody does handwashing as it should be done, just this act can help us every year to reduce over a million deaths worldwide.
The alarming fact is, we still don't have clean water or soap to wash hands in more than 35% of healthcare facilities worldwide. This is where we go to get ourselves treated carefully and 90% of the healthcare workers are not adhering to the basic handwashing practices which directly contribute to virus outbreaks.

When Necessary to Wash Your Hands?
There are a few conditions rather than just the coronavirus to wash your hands and you should practice these:
- Before, During and After Preparing Food
- Before eating (after eating is good too)
- Before and After caring a sick person
- Before and After treating a cut or wound
- After using the bathroom, changing nappies or cleaning a child
- After blowing your nose, coughing and sneezing
- After touching an animal
- After touching rubbish/garbage
- If your hands are visibly dirty or greasy
