WhatsApp Status Ads are coming in 2020 (confirmed news)

Its 2020 and WhatsApp is still dominating the world of messaging services/apps. 1.6 Billion WhatsApp users are enjoying the great messaging app without watching and ads and waiting for the ads to be skippable (like on YouTube).

However, there was big news in 2019 that Whatsapp will start showing ads in status (stories at Whatsapp) and it will be the primary source of income for Facebook-powered Whatsapp app.

Facebook is currently testing or maybe ready to put ads on Whatsapp and here's how it will look like:

Vice president Chris Daniels confirmed the plans last year and stated:

“That is going to be primary monetization mode for the company as well as an opportunity for businesses to reach people on WhatsApp.”

Whatsapp Status Ads in action:

Well, that can be the reason why the founders of WhatsApp left Facebook as they sold WhatsApp to Facebook with an agreement that Facebook will never show ads to Whatsapp users and now Facebook can't help but show ads to generate revenue and they are going to do it.

Whatsapp was founded in 2009 and sold to Facebook in 2014 for $19 billion with an agreement that users should not be entertained with ads like on other social media networks.

However, ads in the Whatsapp status can be interesting and maybe Facebook puts efforts on this new market by selecting a few advertisers that will make sure to not disappoint users of Whatsapp.

As people want something really free and secure.
